Originally from California and New York City, I have been an independent kitchen and bathroom designer in Fairfield, CT since 1996. My background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NYU and jobs in Film, TV and Theater. I began to design kitchens and bathrooms for friends and family in 1987 and went onto the NKBA training program in 1995. My training and experience encompass many disciplines, including color theory, space planning, lighting design and ergonomics. While my kitchens and bathrooms draw upon classic design principles, I keep well abreast of the latest trends in interior, kitchen & bath design.

Each project challenges me on different levels: to identify my clients' needs, wishes and style, to articulate the house's requirements and -- within the parameters of space and budget - to come up with an inspired kitchen or bath. I work very hard to give these spaces the "magic" that makes them a true pleasure to live in and experience.

I am also very budget-sensitive. I am committed to value-based design. Every dollar is put where it will provide the greatest impact in terms of looks and functionality. The kitchens I have designed have ranged in cost from $50,000 to $150,000. The bathrooms have ranged from $22,000 to $50,000. A project's cost derives from its size, complexity and choice of materials and appliances.

"I see my role as harnessing your ideas and sharpening them, bringing them to life."

In the industry, I am what is known as a Boutique Designer. As a result, my approach differs from other kitchen and bath shops in Westchester and Fairfield Counties. I take a more personal and comprehensive approach than the industry standard -- getting to know my clients' needs, wishes, home and style in depth. I also address the total space -- appliances, lighting, counters, tile, flooring and paint color. Given the amount of time, money and resources a kitchen or bath remodel require, it seems to me worth it to invest in a tailor-made design.

My fee structure also differs from other shops but generally ends up being less expensive in the end. I attribute this to good pricing on appliances and cabinetry and my avoidance of gimmicks
